Setting Automatic Updates With McAfee Security Console

What is McAfee Security Console?
The Security Console on your computer desktop is part of your free Cox Security Suite Powered by McAfee®. It is a powerful security solution that allows you to monitor the security status on your computer and to know instantly whether virus, spyware, email, and firewall protection services are up-to-date. Learn to use this tool to set up and manage automatic security software updates.
How can it help me?
When you purchase and activate your McAfee software, it stays up-to-date by automatically checking for and installing updates when your computer is connected to the Internet. Automatic updates include protection against new viruses, spyware, and spam, and the latest feature enhancements to keep your McAfee software running smoothly. You can also check for updates manually at any time.
We recommend that you use the default setting for updates. This way you can be sure that you receive the latest protection for your PC as soon as it is available. If you decide to change the way you receive updates, however, you can do so at any time. For example, you can choose to let McAfee download updates automatically, but notify you before installing them, or you can choose to let McAfee notify you when protection updates are available. You can also turn off automatic updates completely. If you do turn off automatic updates, you will need to check for updates regularly to stay protected against the latest threats.
To begin, double-click the McAfee Security Console icon in your task bar or on your desktop.
For additional help with any Security Console feature visit the McAfee Community. Click Home and Home Office, then under Communities on the left, click Security Console.
From the Security Center console, click McAfee Updates.
Click Check for Updates.
Result: The Security Console will begin searching for updates immediately.
While McAfee is checking for security updates, click Hide to run it in the background and continue your work.
Complete the following tasks.
- In the Options dialog box, select your settings.
- From the main console click McAfee Updates.
- Click Update Settings.
Choose one of the available options, as shown below:
Note: To stop automatic updates click Turn Off.
