Download and Restore a Gateway Configuration File From MyAccount

Solution

Use the following steps to restore your Internet Gateway settings after a factory reset.

  • Any time you make changes to your gateway settings, save and then upload the configuration file to MyAccount. Three configuration files can be saved.
  • The following settings are saved in a configuration file backup.
    • Account Number
    • Gateway Name/Guest WiFi Name
    • Admin Username
    • Admin Password
    • Wireless Network Name (SSID)
    • Wireless Security Mode
    • Network Password (Pre-Shared Key)
    • Local IP Address of Router
    • Cox Static IP Address
    • IP Address Range
    • Subnet Mask
    • Default Gateway
    • Notes

Go to Myaccount.coxbusiness.com, enter your User ID and Password, and then click Sign In.
 

Note: If you have not created a MyAccount profile with a User ID and Password, see Setting Up Your MyAccount Profile.

From the Administrative Tools and Service Management section, click the Internet icon.

Do you have more than one account?

  • If no, then continue to the next step.
  • If yes, then from the Select an account drop-down menu, select the account to modify.

From the Business Internet page, click the Internet Gateway icon.

In the Internet Gateway window, select Gateway / Guest WiFi Reference Info, then click Next.

On the Internet Gateway Settings window, in the Select a Device drop-down menu, select the device you want to restore.

At the bottom of the Internet Gateway Settings window, in the Configuration Files section, click Download to PC. Follow the prompts to save the configuration file to your computer.

In the web browser address bar, enter the gateway admin portal IP address 192.168.0.1 and press Enter.

  1. Sign in using your admin portal username and password.
  2. Select the Administration tab.
  3. Select the Backup & Restore tab.
  4. Click Restore, then select the configuration file that was downloaded from MyAccount in step 7.
