What Causes Outages?

Losing power or Internet may seem unlikely, but interruptions happen. From weather to user error, safeguard your business against these five common causes of outages:

Thunderstorms, hurricanes, tornadoes, snowstorms, wildfires and more can cause Internet and power loss, resulting in unexpected downtime for your business.

Human Error

Accidents happen—especially when it comes to technology. Whether that means misusing hardware or an unplugged chord, human error can cause a loss of connectivity.

Equipment Failure

Old or improperly maintained equipment can also cause outages. Keep equipment updated to reduce the risk of an outage.

Overloaded Networks

A strained network can reach its limit, resulting in slower Internet speeds or a complete outage.

Cut Cables

Construction, outdoor landscaping and other outside factors can inadvertently cut a line and disrupt your business.

If your business loses Internet service, Net Assurance, our backup Internet solution, automatically connects to the best LTE Internet provider based on the fastest available network in your area.

LTE is a term used to describe the wireless technology that allows devices, like cell phones, tablets and more, to connect to the Internet.

Internet failover is a standby Internet solution that automatically turns on if your primary Internet system fails.

Yes. If Cox WiFi customers lose Internet access, their WiFi connections automatically switch to the LTE wireless network.

Cox offers LTE backup for a low monthly fee. With LTE failover, keep your business operating in the event of unexpected network and power outages without paying for usage or purchasing expensive equipment. Contact one of our Cox Business representatives to ask about pricing in your area.
