Renaming a Sensor in Your Subscriber Portal

Solution

The sensor names refer to your Security Solutions system's sensors on the subscriber portal and in notifications. You can rename any of your sensors on your system through the subscriber portal.
 

Complete the steps below to access the Security Solutions subscriber portal and rename a sensor.

Go to myaccount-business.cox.com, enter your User ID and Password, and then click Sign In.
 

Note: If you have not created a MyAccount profile with a User ID and Password, see Setting Up Your MyAccount Profile.

From the MyAccount homepage, click the Security Systems icon.

Do you have more than one account?

  • If no, then continue to the next step.
  • If yes, then from the Select an account drop-down menu, select the account to modify.

From the Security page, click the Launch portal button.

On the left-hand menu of the subscriber portal home page, click Settings.

On the Settings window, click Manage Devices.

On the Manage Devices window, click the Filter button to view the devices associated with that device type.
 

Note: For sensors, filter by the Security category.

Click the three dots to the right of the sensor name and click Device Settings.

Refer to the following table to determine the next steps based on the device type.
 

Note: Sensor names may only be changed in the subscriber portal. Changing the names in the subscriber portal will not change the sensor names on the touchscreen.
 

Device TypeSteps
LightsFrom the Lights page, complete the following.
  1. Click the Configure Lights settings icon.
  2. In the Device Name field, complete the following.
    1. Delete the existing device name.
    2. Type the new device name.
  3. Click the X to close the window.
Mobile DevicesFrom the Mobile Settings page, complete the following.
  1. From the Device Name field, click the right arrow next to the existing device name.
  2. From the Rename Device pop-up window, complete the following.
    1. Delete the existing device name.
    2. Type the new device name.
    3. Click OK.
SecurityFrom the Devices tab on the Partitions page, complete the following.
  1. Click the Configure Systems icon.
  2. From the Systems Settings pop-up window, complete the following.
    1. Delete the existing device name.
    2. Type the new device name.
    3. Click the X to close the window.
ThermostatsFrom the Devices tab on the Thermostats page, complete the following.
  1. Click the Configure Devices icon.
  2. From the Thermostat Settings pop-up window, complete the following.
    1. Delete the existing device name.
    2. Type the new device name.
    3. Click the X to close the window.
Video DevicesFrom the Settings tab on the Video page, complete the following.
  1. Click the Video Device Info option.
  2. From the Video Device Name: field on the Video Device Settings page, complete the following.
    1. Delete the existing device name.
    2. Type the new device name.
    3. Click SAVE.
