Enrolling in Multi-factor Authentication in MyAccount

Solution

Multi-factor Authentication (MFA) provides you with additional security by requiring more than one category of factors in the account authentication process. Complete the steps below to add Multi-factor Authentication to your MyAccount profiles as an administrator or owner.
 

Note: Only a Profile Administrator or a Profile Owner can enroll in Multi-factor Authentication. After enrolling, all users are required to set up verification methods the next time they sign in.

Go to Myaccount.coxbusiness.com, enter your User ID and Password, and then click Sign In.
 

Note: If you have not created a MyAccount profile with a User ID and Password, see Setting Up Your MyAccount Profile.

From the MyAccount home page, click the More icon.

From the More drop-down menu, select Users and Accounts.

Result: The Users tab displays.

From the Multi-factor Authentication page, click to toggle on.

From the Enroll in multi-factor authentication? pop-up window, click Enroll.

Result: The MyAccount sign in page displays.

At this point in the enrollment process, you and your employees have the option to complete the registration online in MyAccount or in the MyAccount app. Would you like to complete the enrollment in the MyAccount app?

From the MyAccount sign in page, enter your User ID and Password, then click Sign In.

From the Set up Multi-factor Authentication page, select one or more verification factors from the following choices and click Setup Multi-Factor.

  • SMS - Receive the six-digit one-time passcode via text to your mobile phone.
  • Voice Call - Receive a call with your instructions to authenticate.
  • Email - Receive a six-digit one-time passcode sent to your email address.

    Note: The email option may not display if an email address is not listed on your account, has not been verified, or is a Cox-issued email address.

Complete the steps outlined in the table below to enter the information for your verification method.
 

If your chosen method is...Then complete these steps...
SMS - Receive a text to your mobile phone.
  1. In the SMS field, enter your Phone Number.
  2. Click Send Code.
  3. Enter the one-time passcode provided in the text into the Enter Code field.
  4. Click Verify.
Voice Call - Receive a phone call with instructions.
  1. In the Voice Call field, enter your Phone Number.
  2. Click Call Me.
  3. Enter the one-time passcode provided on the call into the Enter Code field.
  4. Click Verify.
Email - An email sent to your registered email address.
  1. Click Send Code.
  2. Enter the one-time passcode provided in the email into the Verification Code field.
  3. Click Verify.

Note: The one-time passcode expires after five minutes.

Once you have finished updating your verification methods, click Done.

Result: You are now enrolled in Multi-factor authentication. The MyAccount page displays.
 

Note: Once enrollment has been completed, Multi-factor Authentication is enabled on the Cox Business MyAccount app.
