Changing the Secret Word in the Detection Subscriber Portal


Your Central Station Passcode / Secret Word is used to cancel a dispatch by the Central Monitoring Station (CMS) in the event of a false alarm. The CMS operator cannot view your secret word, their access is limited to entering the word that you provide to them to cancel the alarm.

Choose your passcode / secret word using the recommendations below.

  • Eight letters or fewer
  • Easy to remember, pronounce, and spell

Follow these steps to change the secret word in your detection subscriber portal.


Sign in to the detection subscriber portal.


From the My Business page, click the More menu.

Click Account.

On the Account window, scroll down to the Secret Word section and click VIEW/EDIT.

On the Account Verification window, enter your Master Code.


Scroll down to the Secret Word section to view the current Secret Word. Complete the following steps.

  1. In the Secret Password field, enter a new Secret Word.

    Note: The secret word must not be more than eight letters.

  2. Click SAVE ALL to accept the changes.
