WHAT DOES CCI DEVICE, LLC (“COX”) DO WITH THE PERSONAL INFORMATION YOU PROVIDE IN A DEVICE PAYMENT PLAN (“DPP”) TRANSACTION?

Why?

This notice concerns how we collect, use and disclose your personal information related to your recent DPP transaction (“DPP Data”). Please see the Privacy Notice to Cox Residential Customers for more information on how we collect, use and store other personal information we collect. Financial companies choose how they share your personal information. Federal law gives consumers the right to limit some but not all sharing. Federal law also requires us to tell you how we collect, share, and protect your personal information. Please read this notice carefully to understand what we do.

What?

The types of personal information we collect and share depend on the product or service you have with us. This information can include:

  • Social Security number, credit history and credit scores
  • Account balances and payment history
  • Transaction history

When you are no longer our customer, we continue to share your information as described in this notice.

How?

All financial companies need to share customer personal information to run their everyday business. In the section below, we list the reasons financial companies can share their customers’ personal information; the reasons Cox chooses to share; and whether you can limit this sharing.

What we do

How does Cox protect my personal information?

To protect your personal information from unauthorized access and use, we use security measures that comply with federal law. These measures include computer safeguards and secured files and buildings.

How does Cox collect my personal information?

We collect your personal information, for example, when you:
 

  • Give us your contact information and open an account
  • Use your credit or debit card and pay your bills
  • Provide account information

We also collect your personal information from others, such as credit bureaus, affiliates, or other companies.

Why can’t I limit all sharing?

Federal law gives you the right to limit only:
 

  • sharing for affiliates’ everyday business purposes—information about your creditworthiness
  • affiliates from using your information to market to you
  • sharing for nonaffiliates to market to you

State laws and individual companies may give you additional rights to limit sharing.

Affiliates

Companies related by common ownership or control. They can be financial and nonfinancial companies.
 

  • Our affiliates include companies with a Cox name, including non-financial companies such as Cox Wireless, LLC and Cox Communications, Inc.

Nonaffiliates

The processing of your personal information that Cox Communications, Inc. and its affiliates collect in connection with communications and entertainment services they provide, including Cox Mobile wireless services, are subject to the Privacy Notice to Cox Residential Customers, not this Privacy Notice. 

Frequently asked questions

Cox affiliate CCI Device, LLC (“CCI Device” or “we”) provides the Privacy Notice to customers who enter into a Device Payment Plan with CCI Device.  This is because CCI Device’s offering of the Device Payment Plan is subject to the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (“GLBA”), a federal law that provides privacy rights to customers of financial companies.

The Notice applies to CCI Device, LLC, an affiliate of Cox Mobile and Cox Communications that offers a Device Payment Plan to Cox Mobile customers. The Notice does not apply to Citizens Bank.  If you have a Citizens Pay Device Financing account with Citizens Bank, please contact Citizens, and not CCI Device or any other Cox company, for information about Citizens’ privacy practices.

The Notice applies to personal information that we collect when you apply for or enter into a Device Payment Plan transaction with CCI Device.

We may decide to update the GLBA Privacy Notice from time-to-time and we reserve the right to do so. We will notify customers of changes when required by law.

No. The Privacy Notice only applies to nonpublic personal information that CCI Device, LLC collects about Device Payment Plan customers.  The collection of personal information that Cox Mobile and other Cox Communications affiliates collect in connection with Cox Wireless or other services is covered by the Privacy Notice to Cox Residential Customers.

We collect your personal information when, for example, you apply for a Device Payment Plan with Cox, you make your device payments, or you contact us for customer service purposes. We also collect your personal information from credit bureaus, our affiliates, and other third parties in connection with your application for and entry into a Device Payment Plan and our servicing of your Device Payment Plan account.

We take measures designed to protect your personal information from unauthorized access and use by implementing security measures consistent with federal law, such as computer safeguards and physical security measures.

We may share your personal information for our everyday business purposes, such as to process your transactions, maintain your account(s), respond to court orders and legal investigations, or report to credit bureaus. We may share your personal information regarding your transactions and experiences with CCI Device with other Cox Communications and Cox Mobile affiliates for their everyday business purposes. We also may share your personal information with our service providers to market our products and services to you.

No. Federal law allows consumers to opt out of some types of data sharing (such as sharing to nonaffiliates so they can market to you), but CCI Device does not share your personal information for these purposes.  CCI Device only shares your personal information for the limited purposes described in the Privacy Notice.
