Cox donates more than $2.2 million to support local hospitals for crisis response

July 27, 2020

Cox donates 180,000 masks to Sentara Healthcare during Coronavirus pandemic.

Cox Communications today announced that it is donating face masks to help hospitals protect healthcare professionals, hospital staff and patients during the COVID-19 pandemic.

In response to the growing strain on hospitals as the number of COVID-19 cases continue to climb, the company announced that mask donation valued at more than $2.2 million will be distributed across 12 hospitals in the markets Cox serves. Approximately 180,000 surgical, N95 and KN-95 masks will be donated to Sentara Healthcare to support their Coronavirus efforts.

“With Coronavirus cases rising in many parts of the nation, we deeply appreciate the selfless efforts and sacrifices that our hospital partners and their staff are making to meet the healthcare needs of our community,” said Thom Watkins, vice president of Cox Business Virginia. “The face mask donation is part of our ongoing efforts to support healthcare heroes and their communities during the pandemic.”

It’s one small way for Cox to thank Sentara for all the work that its people are doing, every day, on the front lines of this unprecedented health crisis.
