How to be a champion for digital equity
Leveling the digital playing field for children goes far beyond improving internet access for families. Since 2012, Cox has been committed to digital inclusion, and that commitment has included partnerships with local and national organizations across the country through our flagship/original affordability program, Connect2Compete. These collaborations with nonprofits, faith-based organizations and other corporate partners are essential to closing the digital divide. Simply put, without people like you who are willing to help, our work would not be possible.
Connect2Compete is Cox's low-cost internet solution for families with school-aged children who are enrolled in government financial assistance programs. Connect2Compete is designed to create digital equity for students and families that may have previously lacked internet access in their homes.
Additionally, we’ve expanded our affordability offering to include ConnectAssist, a new program designed for low-income households who may not qualify for Connect2Compete.
Students are learning with more digital tools than ever before. To be successful though, students need quality computers, internet access and digital literacy to participate and engage with growing video content. Unfortunately, 65 million Americans can’t afford home internet access — and kids within these households are left at a significant disadvantage.
Through our partnership with PCs for People, we provide free or affordable computers with the capabilities needed for remote learning. We also collaborate with leading organizations like Common Sense Media, American Library Association, and the Boys & Girls Club to provide digital skills and literacy training to low-income households that may have limited experience with using computers.
These vital Connect2Compete partnerships help students across the nation get the resources they need to succeed at school and beyond.
