This year, Cox email customers will start using Yahoo Mail to check their Cox.net email accounts. You will keep your existing cox.net email address, messages, folders, calendar, and contacts. All ongoing email support will be managed through Yahoo Mail and they will become your new provider. Don’t worry, we're here to help you and will keep you informed every step of the way!
Note: This only impacts your cox.net email address. None of your other Cox services will be impacted.
How to Prepare
Here are a few things you can do to prepare for a smooth transition.
- Know your full email address including @cox.net and your existing Cox email password.
Note: If you forgot your password, then go to the Cox email login page and click Forgot Password.
Save any important attachments, not everything will transfer over.
- To ensure your emails transfer to Yahoo, you must download and remove any emails from your Inbox with attachments equal to or greater than 40 MB or files in a TNEF or dat format. These size and file types are not supported.
- Any files not removed that meet these criteria will be deleted during the transition. See, Removing Attachments in Cox Webmail for details.
- There is nothing else you need to do until we notify you that it’s time to complete the move. We will keep you informed about any important steps you need to take along the way.
What to Expect
Once we've completed our part, we'll notify you that it's time for you to finish the move.
Important: Please wait for our notification. Trying to complete the steps before we're done won't work.
When it’s time to move your email to Yahoo, here’s what you can expect, depending on how you usually access your email:
- If you access your email through our webmail website, then you'll be redirected to a page with simple steps to complete the transition.
- If you access your email through an email client or app, like Outlook, there will be an email from Yahoo with instructions and a link to help you make the switch.
Note: If you have more than one email address, each of them will receive their own individual instructions when they are ready to move.
Completing the Move
Once you receive the notification that it's time to move, then you can complete the following steps.
- Go to http://mail.yahoo.com/.
- Enter your full email address including the @cox.net and click Next.
- Enter your existing email password and click Next.
Note: If you do not remember your password, go to the Cox email login page and click Forgot Password. - Enter your full name and birthday, review Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, and then click Next.
- Create a new password to be used with your email going forward with Yahoo and click Continue.
- Review welcome message and click Done.
