New Family Movies You Can Stream This Summer

Keep the family movie tradition going with these fun and heartwarming titles.

Family movie night is a tradition in our household and so many others. Every Sunday evening, we take turns to pick a movie or even draw the title out of a hat, grab a huge box of buttery popcorn to share and get comfy on the sofa. In the summer, we take movie night into the backyard and watch on a giant inflatable screen under the stars.


This summer, you can stream a host of exciting, new movies with Contour TV from Cox. There's something for the everyone in the family — from a pair of musical titles from Lin-Manuel Miranda of Hamilton fame to the next installment of The Boss Baby to a modern take on Cinderella starring Camila Cabello.



Vivo (Netflix)


Be prepared to fall in love with Vivo, an animated musical featuring original songs from Lin-Manuel Miranda. The enchanting story is about a lovable kinkajou (a rainforest honey bear) called Vivo, played by Miranda, who travels from Havana to Miami on an important mission. This fun family movie is not to be missed. (June 4)



In the Heights (HBO Max)


This award-winning hit musical helped establish Miranda as a force on Broadway. Directed by John M. Chu (Crazy Rich Asians), the film version about the owner of a bodega in Washington Heights will have you dancing in your seat. (June 11)



Wish Dragon (Netflix)


Enjoy this heartwarming story as it follows Din, a teenage boy and a dragon that grants wishes, whom he discovers in a magic teapot, on his quest to reunite with a long-lost friend. This animated comedy promises to be a crowd-pleaser. (June 11)



The Boss Baby: Family Business (Peacock)


The Boss Baby: Family Business features a star-studded cast, including Alec Baldwin, Lisa Kudrow and Jimmy Kimmel, who return for a fun-filled adventure that reunites the Boss Baby and his brother Tim. Expect to laugh from beginning to end. (July 2)



Trollhunters: The Rise of the Titans (Netflix)


The Dreamworks Animation sequel to the award-winning franchise features familiar faces from three hit series: Trollhunters3Below and Wizards. They join forces for an epic adventure to defeat the evil Arcane Order. Action and adventure abound in this movie that is sure to be a hit with the whole family. (July 11)



Space Jam: A New Legacy (HBO Max)


Fans have had to wait 25 years for a sequel to the hit 1996 Space Jam movie. The reboot — Space Jam: A New Legacy — features a mix of animation and live action as basketball legend LeBron James teams up with Bugs Bunny and other Looney Tunes characters to defeat the Goon Squad. Will it be worth the wait? (July 16)



The Loud House Movie (Netflix)


Fans of The Loud House will love this new summer family movie, which is ideal for younger children. Follow Nickelodeon's largest family as they head to Scotland on a fun-filled animated adventure, which delves into the history of the Loud family and perhaps uncovers some secrets along the way. The family discover they descend from Scottish royalty and start living it up in their ancestral home — a huge castle. (Aug. 20)



Cinderella (Amazon Prime)


The live action remake of this oft-told fairytale is a must-see. Cinderella is played by Camila Cabello, the Cuban-American singer, songwriter and actress. Also starring Billy Porter, Missy Elliott and James Corden, it promises to become a modern family classic. (September)
