A Sports Fan's Dream- The ESPN App is Here

October 25, 2022

The ESPN app is available to Cox customers, providing live events, scores, and information from the NFL, NBA, MLB and much more.

Welcome to the best time of year for sports fans. It's when the seasons for all four major professional sports — NFL, MLB, NBA and NHL — intersect, with games on the same day.

With all of these events happening at once, sports fans can use the ESPN app to watch live games and do a deep dive into your favorite sports, teams and players.

The ESPN app has recently launched on Contour TV & the Contour Stream Player. Here's how to access it and what to expect from the experience.

How to Use the ESPN App as a Cox Customer
You can easily access the ESPN app and its premium subscription service, ESPN+, via Contour TV or the Contour Stream player. Simply say "ESPN" or "ESPN+" into your Contour Voice Remote to access content.

You can also download the ESPN app from iTunes or Google Play for use on other Wifi-connected devices. The app will prompt you to enter information from your TV provider. Scroll down to Cox and type in your username and password. The broadcast should start immediately, but you may need to refresh the page.

Now, you can catch live action and highlights from across the sports world, all on your smart TV, smartphone, laptop or tablet. After entering your information once, you're set up to immediately start enjoying games in the future.

How the ESPN App Works
The ESPN app streams content from its umbrella of channels, giving you a quick way to jump into the action. It also provides news updates, scores and standings, so you'll never be out of the loop with your favorite (or least favorite) teams.

You can watch content from ESPN and more than a dozen related channels, including ESPN2, ESPN Deportes and SEC Network.

When you open the app, you'll see highlights from earlier games or a recommendation for a game currently going on. You can also use the bottom navigation to see a list of other events, scores, and news, or to hop to a particular sport.

Using ESPN+
The ESPN app also houses content from ESPN+. ESPN+ airs live games from the MLB, NHL and MLS, as well as PGA Tour golf, UFC events, tennis, college football and worldwide soccer matches.

Subscribers to ESPN+ get access to more than 3,000 premium articles per year. Additionally, the service includes original shows, such as Peyton's Places with Peyton Manning, Man in the Arena with Tom Brady, Bettor Days with Mike Greenberg and the entire award-winning 30 for 30 documentary collection.

What to Watch on the ESPN App
Here are some viewing highlights:
  • ESPN+ airs the Power Play Out-of-Market NHL Hockey live games through the spring of 2023.
  • ESPN broadcasts Monday Night Football, so you can watch every NFL game on Monday night for the rest of the year.
