Virginia Athletes representing the U.S. in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics

From Boxing and BMX to Swimming and Soccer, here’s a look at some of the athletes from Virginia representing the U.S. in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Say “Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games” into your Contour remote to keep up with these athletes and more. 

 
Basketball 
Washington Mystics teammates Ariel Atkins and Tina Charles will join a 12-player roster for the 2020 U.S. Olympic Women’s Basketball team. This will be Atkins' first trip to The Olympics and Charles’ third. For the men’s team, Washington Wizards guard Bradley Beal will make his Olympics debut. 
 
Boxing 
Two Virginia boxers, Keshawn Davis from Norfolk and Troy Isley from Alexandria, secured spots on the U.S. Olympic Boxing team. Along with Duke Ragan, they’ll be the first professional boxers to compete for the U.S. at The Olympics.  
 
Cycling BMX Freestyle
Former world champion Justin Dowell will represent Virginia Beach in the BMX Freestyle event. This is the 21-year-old's first trip to The Olympics.
 
Rowing 
Claire Collins from McLean will be one of 37 athletes representing USRowing. She’ll compete in the Women’s Four event. 
 
Swimming 
Torri Huske, a graduate of Yorktown High School, set an American record in 100m Butterfly to qualify for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. Richmond-native and Olympic gold medalist Townley Haas is returning to compete in the 200m freestyle and 4x200m freestyle.
 
Soccer 
Washington Spirit defenders Kelly O’Hara and Emily Sonnett will compete for the U.S. Women's Soccer Team. This will be O'Hara's third appearance at The Olympics and Sonnett's first. 
 
Track & Field 
Hurdler Grant Holloway, a graduate from Grassfield High School in Chesapeake, is headed to his first Olympics after winning the men’s 110-meter hurdles at the U.S. Olympic Track and Field Trials. Holloway made headlines after barely missing the world record for his event in the semifinals, finishing just .01 seconds behind Arie’s Merritt’s record of 12.80.
