10 Halloween movies to watch based on your costume

October 28, 2020

You don’t need to go out to have a fun-filled Halloween. Have a spooky, safe night at home by saying “Halloween Movies” into your Contour remote.

While Halloween may look a little different this year, it’s definitely not cancelled. There are plenty of ways you can stay safe and still get in the Halloween spirit, even from the comfort of your own couch.

Here are 10 movies to watch for a scary fun time based on your usual costume of choice.

Clown – It
This is the movie that made clowns go from funny to terrifying for kids everywhere. By the time you finish It and It 2, even seemingly-harmless red balloons will be enough to give you chills.

Witch – Halloweentown
Halloweentown follows a young girl who learns she’s a witch and must help her grandmother save their town from evil forces. It’s a classic Halloween movie that’s still a fan-favorite after more than 20 years.

Nurse or Doctor – The Halloween Series
If you want to watch a true slasher film, look no farther than the Halloween franchise. If you’re up for it, you can even make it a movie marathon. But you better start soon – It’ll take you 18 hours and 20 minutes to watch all 11 Halloween movies straight through.

Vampire – Dracula
A man condemned to live off the blood of the living for an eternity… what could go wrong? Enter Dracula. The story of the blood-sucking Count Dracula has been told in film and TV countless times over the years. Say “Dracula” into your Contour remote to see your options.

Mad Scientist – Frankenstein
Frankenstein tells the story of a brilliant scientist who creates a monster out of lifeless body parts. Traumatized and confused, the monster escapes Dr. Frankenstein and begins wreaking havoc. The original movie came out in 1931, but just like the monster, it’s been brought to life in film and TV time and time again.

Skeleton – Nightmare Before Christmas
It’s still up for debate if this movie is a Halloween or Christmas movie. Either way, Nightmare Before Christmas is definitely a fan favorite, with a 95% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The story follows Halloweentown’s pumpkin king, Jack Skellington, as he attempts to take over Christmas.

Ghost – Casper
While there are plenty of ghost movies to choose from, Casper is the perfect choice for scaredy cats who still want to get in on the Halloween fun. Casper is a friendly ghost who spends his days peacefully haunting a mansion in Maine. That is until an afterlife therapist and his daughter are brought in to rid the house of its spirits.

Mummy – Under Wraps
In Under Wraps, three kids find a mummy and accidentally bring him back to life. Together, they go on an adventure to return the mummy to his final resting place by Midnight on Halloween so that he’ll be reunited with his long lost love.

Disney Prince or Princess – Maleficent
Maleficent, one of Disney’s most iconic and vengeful villains, places a curse on the King’s newborn daughter, Aurora after a terrible betrayal. While not technically a Halloween movie, this twist on Sleeping Beauty is still dark enough to give you a fright.

Cowgirl or Cowboy – Toy Story of Terror
When Woody, Jessie, Buzz and the gang stop at a motel, one of them goes missing. At only 21-minutes long, Toy Story of Terror is great for a quick way to get kids in the Halloween Spirit.
