We're bringing you the most-watched On Demand movies and TV shows of 2019.
These days, watching TV is more than just an occasional indulgence; it's a legitimate hobby. Thanks to the invention of streaming services (heyyy Netflix), we no longer have to wait until Sunday at 8 p.m. to tune into our favorite show. Even movies have become more accessible, as thousands of movies are now available on demand.
So…what is everyone watching?
We were curious, so we did some research and crunched some numbers to bring you the most popular Cox On Demand movies and TV shows of 2019:
1. Frozen (Movie, 2013)
Inspired by Hans Christian Andersen's “The Snow Queen," this whimsical animated feature tells the story of Princess Anna, who ventures out into the snowy wilderness to end the eternal winter and find her estranged sister Elsa. With endlessly addictive songs voiced by Kristen Bell and Idina Menzel, it's no wonder this Disney favorite was turned into a hit Broadway musical.
2. Venom (Movie, 2018)
Eddie Brock (Tom Hardy) is a reporter who gets possessed by an alien symbiote that imbues its hosts with superpowers while slowly killing them. Part sci-fi horror, part comic-book movie, this Marvel super-villain origin story is as unique as it is entertaining.
3. Game of Thrones (TV, 2011-2019)
Based on George R.R. Martin's book series “A Song of Ice and Fire," HBO's Game of Thrones is a medieval fantasy epic about two royal families vying for control of the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros. With dizzyingly complex plotlines and a huge ensemble cast, this record-breaking series won fifty-nine Emmys over its seven seasons and developed a diehard international fan base.
4. SpongeBob SquarePants (TV, 1999-present)
This zany animated series by Nickelodeon chronicles the adventures of SpongeBob and his starfish best friend Patrick as they navigate the underwater city of Bikini Bottom. Incredibly popular with kids and adults alike, this long-running show has no end in sight; there's even a rumored spin-off series in the works.
5. A Star is Born (Movie, 2018)
The third remake of the original 1937 film, A Star is Born tells the story of a substance-abusing country rock musician who falls in love with a young singer-songwriter. Starring Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper, this heart-wrenching drama garnered eight Oscar nominations at the 91st Academy Awards.
6. Descendants 3 (Movie, 2019)
This Disney musical fantasy is the third installment of films in the Descendants cannon, with its predecessors Descendants and Descendants 2 both ranking in the top fifty Cox On Demand titles. The film series centers around the offspring of Disney's classic villains, and in this chapter Mal and her friends must band together to wage war against an unthinkable dark force.
7. The Masked Singer (TV, 2019-present)
Based on the hit Korean show King of Mask Singer, this American reality competition features celebrities disguised in head-to-toe costumes. With contestants such as T-Pain and Gladys Knight, it's no wonder The Washington Post described The Masked Singer as "one of the craziest reality shows of our time."
8. Tag (Movie, 2018)
With an ensemble cast featuring the likes of Ed Helms, Jon Hamm and Jeremy Renner, it's no wonder this energetic comedy is one of the most popular Cox On Demand flicks. Based on a true story published in the Wall Street Journal, Tag is about a group of grown men who have been playing a decades-long game of tag that begins in May each year.
9. Yellowstone (TV, 2018-present)
Kevin Costner stars in this hit Western show about a 6th generation rancher defending his land against developers and politicians. With unsolved murders and shifting allegiances, this gripping drama was dubbed the most watched cable show of the summer by the New York Times.
10. Skyscraper (Movie, 2018)
Duane Johnson plays a former FBI agent who gets framed for setting the world's tallest skyscraper ablaze while on assignment in Hong Kong. An adrenaline-pumping drama/thriller, Skyscraper is just one of The Rock's recent popular films — Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle and Rampage both rank among the top fifty titles for Cox On Demand.
