6 Things We’re Excited to See at the 2018 MTV Video Music Awards

August 23, 2018

Are you ready for the 2018 MTV Video Music Awards? We are.

By: Maria Esposito

The 2018 MTV Video Music Awards are returning to Radio City Music Hall on Monday, August 20 at 9pm, and we are so excited to see what fun and unexpected moments occur. Past VMA shows have featured incredible surprise performances, celebrity outbursts (Hey, Kanye), shocking fashion choices and so much more.

While it was incredibly difficult to just choose six, here are what we are most excited to see at this year’s VMAs.

And the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award Goes To…

Jennifer Lopez! In a well-deserved moment in VMA history, J. Lo will receive the coveted Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, which acknowledges an artist’s contributions to the world of music videos. The award has previously honored entertainers like Tom Petty, Britney Spears and Beyoncé.

In other exciting news, her song “Dinero” is also nominated for both the “Best Collaboration” and “Best Latin Video” awards.

Who Will Win Video of the Year?

This year’s nominees for Video of the Year are quite frankly, out of control. They are all simply amazing. Will The Carters win their first Moon Man as ‘The Carters?’ Is it “God’s Plan” that Drake wins video of the year? Only time will tell.

In the meantime, you can access exclusive celebrity interviews and catch up on the nominated music videos by saying the command “Moon Man” into your Cox Contour voice remote.

Ariana Grande’s first live performance of “God is a Woman”

Nominated for five VMA’s this year, Ariana Grande will be performing “God is a Woman,” from her upcoming album, Sweetener. This performance (which will be ICONIC) marks the first time she has performed the song live. Based on her previous VMA performances of “Side to Side,” “Bang Bang” and “Break Free,” we have no doubt that this performance will be one of the greats.
