A World Within Reach - Championing Digital Equity

November 28, 2022

Today, 18% of young people in the U.S. don’t have access to the internet at home. Many families don’t have a computer at home, and those that do, often share between multiple family members. Having internet access is a barrier to equity impacting many families and students in need.

#AWorldWithinReach shares stories of people's lives who've been positively impacted by affordable Internet and how it delivers more than just a connection. It puts education, community and career within their reach. It puts A World Within Reach.

Meet Anabel.

A volunteer, full-time employee, student and daughter. She strives to make a better life for herself and her family. Stories like Anabel’s are why Cox is committed to delivering affordable Internet to everyone who needs it.

Anabel is a full-time student studying psychology and human system engineering at Arizona State University (ASU). She has an accomplished academic record, was previously president of Phi Theta Kappa Alpha Omnicron Chi Honor Society, volunteered for the Future Educators Conference, is a member of the ASU Barret Honors Program and has received numerous scholarships and awards.

Anabel has always been a volunteer, including organizations such as Structured Autism and Student Life’s Mobile Food Distribution. More recently, she began as a volunteer for Chicanos Por La Causa (CPLC) with a focus on a program they run called Help Our Kids Connect. Help Our Kids Connect collects, refurbishes and distributes donated computers to families in need. She received a scholarship from CPLC where she is currently working full-time.

Anabel lives with her sister, who is also a student at ASU. Her parents live in Florida. Her father is retired, and her mother works at Disney World.
