  • If you already have the McAfee software downloaded, you can continue using it until June 27, 2024.
  • Customer Notifications will be sent out to subscribers on April 25, 2024.
  • Cox will discontinue offering or supporting McAfee Anti-Virus software for all customers as of June 27, 2024.
  • On or before June 27, 2024, Cox customers should remove the Cox-provided McAfee software from their devices.

What is changing?

As of March 21, 2024, free McAfee subscriptions will no longer be offered as part of Cox Internet plans. If you wish to keep anti-virus software on your devices, which we recommend, you should select a free or paid security option directly from security providers such as McAfee.

If you do not remove the Cox provided McAfee software from your devices, the McAfee software will no longer protect your devices starting June 27, 2024.

Why are you no longer offering McAfee Anti-Virus software?

We are always evaluating the features we provide customers. Research shows most customers have anti-virus software on their computer. However, a very small number of our customers use the McAfee service we provide.

What do I need to do by June 27, 2024?

You need to remove the Cox provided McAfee software from your devices, such as your computer or mobile phone by June 27, 2024. If you wish to continue using anti-virus software, you will need to select either a free or paid anti-virus software option directly from a software provider and ensure it is active by June 27, 2024.

How do I uninstall McAfee Software?

What if I decide to continue with McAfee software and pay them directly?

You will need to download the new software directly from McAfee.

  • It will find and remove any prior software versions as part of your new software set up.
  • The Cox provided version of McAfee software you have on your devices will no longer provide anti-virus or other security starting June 27, 2024, even if it remains on your devices.

What happens if I don’t remove McAfee software by June 27, 2024?

Starting June 27, 2024, Cox will no longer offer or support McAfee subscriptions and your devices will no longer be protected by McAfee, even if the software remains on your devices. If you wish to maintain anti-virus security for your devices, you should select and install new security software directly from the provider of your choice.

Do I have to start paying McAfee for a software subscription?

By June 27, 2024, you will need to select a new provider for your anti-virus software as Cox will no longer offer or support McAfee subscriptions.

  • There are many free and paid options from which to choose for your anti-virus security.
  • If you select a paid option for your Anti-virus services, additional charges may apply. These charges would be unrelated to your Cox bill.

If I currently rent a Panoramic Wifi Gateway that includes Advanced Security, can it help protect my devices

Cox Advanced Security helps protect the devices on your home Wi-Fi from cyber threats by blocking malicious sites and identifying phishing attempts. You can even review blocked threats in the Cox Panoramic Wifi app anytime.

  • Cox recommends enabling Advanced Security on your Cox Panoramic Wi-Fi app, requires Panoramic Wifi 3 or higher.

  • For anti-virus protection, we recommend that you also install and use anti-virus software of your choice by June 27, 2024.

If I rent a Panoramic Wifi Gateway, how do I turn on Advanced Security?

Complete the following steps.

  1. Open your Panoramic Wifi app.
  2. On the Overview tab, click the Secure your network tile.
  3. Click Turn on Advanced Security.
