Using the Cox Voice Remote for Homelife Devices

Solution

The Cox voice remote provides you with the ability to control your Homelife thermostats, lights, smart plugs, and door locks.

Use the following tips to set up your devices for the Cox voice remote.

  • Name your Homelife devices something unique and identifiable, such as Kitchen Light or Upstairs Thermostat. Do not include numbers in the device name, such as Bedroom Light 2.
  • If you have a touchscreen control panel and dimmable Smart LED lights, make sure to activate the dimming feature in the Home Settings.

Complete the below steps using your Cox remote.

Note
: There is no need for you to pair the voice remote to your Homelife system, this is all completed internally.

Hold the Cox voice remote 1 - 8 inches away and speak into the microphone, located at the top of the remote.

Press and hold the MIC button while talking.

Result: The LED on the remote flashes and a microphone symbol displays on the TV indicating Contour is listening.

While holding the Microphone button, speak one of the recommended voice command examples listed in the table below.

Device Voice Command Examples
Lights / Smart Plugs
  • Dim the living room light.
  • Turn all lights on / off.
  • Turn the bedroom lights off.
  • Make it brighter.
  • Set lights to 80 percent.
  • Are my entry lights on?
Thermostat
  • What is the downstairs thermostat set to?
  • Turn on the heat.
  • AC on or off.
  • Change mode to cool.
  • Set upstairs thermostat to 72 degrees.
  • What is the temperature inside?
Door Lock
  • Lock doors.
  • Lock front door.
  • Are my doors locked?
  • Is the front door locked?
  • Lock door
  • Is the door locked?

Result: The receiver displays the requested action statement and the Homelife device responds to the request.
