There is no need to remember frequently used phone numbers with Speed Dial 8. Create and use a Speed Dial list of up to eight local or long distance telephone numbers that are dialed using just one digit from 2-9 with the steps below.
Note: Telephone numbers in Speed Dial lists must be ten-digit numbers. Special numbers such as 411, 611, and 911 are not permitted.
Programming a Speed Dial 8 List
Use the steps below to create a list of most frequently used numbers and assign the numbers to a speed code.
- Make a list of frequently used phone numbers.
- Assign each phone number a one-digit code from 2-9.
- Lift the handset and listen for dial tone.
- On the handset press *74. On a rotary phone, dial 1174.
- Follow the voice prompts and press 2 to create a Speed Dial list.
- Using the list created in step 2, enter the one-digit speed code.
- Enter the phone number to assign to that speed code.
- Press the # key.
Result: The system reads the entry back.
- The system prompts to continue or exit.
- To continue adding new codes and assign phone numbers, press 2, then repeat steps 6-9 until the list is complete.
- To exit, hang up or press 9.
Changing a Speed Dial 8 List
Use the steps below to change an existing Speed Dial 8 list.
- Lift the handset and listen for the dial tone.
- Press *74. On a rotary phone, dial 1174.
- Follow the voice prompts and press 2 to change an entry in a list.
- Enter the one-digit speed code that will be updated.
Result: The system reads the entry back.
- The system prompts to press one of the following keys.
- To replace the speed code, press the # key.
- To enter a new phone number for that speed code, press the * key.
- To remove a speed code and assigned phone number, press 3.
- To hear the list, press 6.
- To exit, hang up or press 9.
Making a Phone Call With a Speed Code
Use the steps below to make a phone call using an existing speed code assigned to a phone number.
- Lift the handset and listen for the dial tone.
- Enter the one-digit speed code (2-9) assigned to the phone number to be called.
