Understanding Audio Options for Contour 2

The Contour 2 receiver provides different audio options from the Transport Bar.

Note: Voice Guidance is a function that reads program descriptions and navigation instructions aloud. For more information, refer to Using Contour 2 Voice Guidance.

Use the below table to identify the different audio options available on Contour 2 and their function.

Note: The function is active when the blue check mark displays on the icon.

Audio Option Description
Video Description

The following is an overview of how Video Description functions.

  • Key visual elements of the program are described as they are happening.
  • To select Video Description, the program must provide it. For more information, refer to Learn About Video Description Service.

Secondary Audio Programming (SAP)

Secondary Audio Programming (SAP) is a secondary audio stream that a broadcaster may transmit for television programs.

The following is an overview of how SAP functions.

  • If SAP is provided, then the program is heard in secondary audio. For more information, refer to Configuring Secondary Audio Programming for Contour 2.
  • If SAP is not provided, then the below message displays, and the audio defaults to Video Description.

    Note: In this instance, there is no visual indicator that Video Description is active. To disable, refer to Disabling Secondary Audio Programming for Contour 2.

Closed Caption Programs with closed caption provide text of the spoken dialogue in a TV program. For more information, refer to Navigating the Contour 2 Closed Caption Menu.
