Troubleshooting Tips for Easy Connect of the Automation Smart Plug

Solution

Once you have completed all of the Easy Connect steps and still may be having some difficulties with the device communicating with your Automation Hub, use the tips below to assist you further.

Pairing

If the system is having difficulty communicating with your connected Smart Plug, follow these steps to reestablish communications.

1

If you have any electronics on your home network that communicate with RF (Wifi routers, cordless phones, or Bluetooth devices), make sure they are not being used near the Smart Plug.

2

Place the smart plug in another location and see if the problem resolves itself. If so, move the smart plug back to the original location.

3

Power down any potential RF interference electronics to see if the problem resolves itself. If so, consider relocating those RF interference electronic devices.

4

If the problem persists, the RF signal may be weak in that part of your home. Please contact Homelife Customer Support at 1-877-404-2568.

Troubleshooting

  • If the outlet is switch-controlled, make sure the power is turned on, and always left on so the Smart Plug can be controlled remotely.
  • If pairing is unsuccessful, reset the Smart Plug to the factory default by following the steps below:
    1. Remove the Smart Plug from the wall outlet.
    2. Press and hold the button on the Smart Plug.
    3. Reinstall the Smart Plug into the wall outlet while holding the button.
    4. After two seconds the status LED turns ON.
    5. Once the LED is ON, release the button.
    6. The Smart Plug now resets to factory defaults and begins scanning for a network to join.
    7. Begin the pairing process again.
