Troubleshooting No Audio

Solution

Complete the following steps to troubleshoot an issue with no audio.

Are all channels impacted?

  • If only local channels are impacted, then continue troubleshooting using MTS, Stereo or SAP IssuesAll steps complete.
  • If all channels are impacted, then continue to next step.

Verify that the volume is turned up on the TV, VCR, or receiver. Did this resolve the issue?

  • If no, then continue to the next step.
  • If yes, then the audio is functioning correctly. All steps complete.

Verify if the devices are not set to by pressing Mute button on the TV, VCR, or receiver. Did this resolve the issue?

  • If no, then continue to the next step.
  • If yes, then the audio is functioning correctly. All steps complete.

Is there a TV remote button labeled as either MTS, Stereo, Audio, Sound or SAP?

  • If yes, then press the button up to three times until sound is restored.
  • If no, then from the TV settings menu, select Audio or Sound settings and confirm Stereo or Mono is selected.
     
    Note
    : Devices set to SAP or Stereo can sometimes cause no audio when the TV program is not compatible. Refer to Managing Secondary Audio Programming Settings for more information.

Is there a separate sounds system?

  • If no, then continue to the next step.
  • If yes, then confirm the correct channel is selected on the receiver and mute is off. Continue to the next step as needed.

Are there headphones or similar third party devices connected?

  • If no, then continue to the next step.
  • If yes, then remove devices and confirm the issue is resolved. Continue to the next step as needed
