Setup and Navigate Through the Contour App Guide

Solution

Use the steps below to navigate and use the Contour app.

Setup

Learn about using the general setup options with the table below.

Settings apply to individual devices. Each device using the app must be set up separately.

How To...Action

Activate the app for your device and Cox account

  1. From the Welcome screen, tap Get Started.
  2. Enter the Cox User ID and password. One of the following will display:
    • Programming undercard displays while content loads.
    • A message displays if you are eligible but not subscribed to Contour 2.
    • Non-serviceable message displays if Contour 2 is not available in service area.

Access the Main Menu

Swipe right from the left edge, or tap the Menu button.

Exit any guide or menu screen overlay

Tap outside the screen or overlay.

Guide

Use the table below to move through or access specific parts of the guide.

How To...Action

Scroll through channel listings

Swipe up and down.

Move forward or backward in time

Swipe left and right.

Change guide date

Tap the Today button to access a date picker.

View content galleries for Kids, Movies, or Sports

  1. From the Main Menu, tap Kids, Movies, or Sports.
  2. Tap All Listings to exit the gallery view and see all programming.

Tune to a channel

Tap the channel logo.

View details and actions for a program

Tap the program cell in the listings grid.

  • Additional details and options display, including Watch and Info.
  • Lock or Unlock option displays if Parental Controls are on and a PIN exists. PIN is required to lock or unlock.

Filter for HD, CC-enabled, and SAP-enabled content

Tap the HD, CC, or SAP filter button at the bottom right of the full-screen guide.

Resume viewing a show or movie

  1. From the Main Menu, tap For You.
    • The For You screen displays recently viewed shows and movies.
    • Content tiles feature a progress bar indicating how much of a show or movie you’ve already watched.
  2. Tap a content tile.
  3. Tap Watch.
  4. Choose Resume or Start Over.

See upcoming episodes and airings

Tap to select a show or movie, then tap Info. Upcoming episodes within 14 days display.

Search for live and purchased TV programming

  1. From the Main Menu, tap in the Search box.
  2. Use the displayed keyboard to enter a search term for a TV show, movie, or sports team.
    • As you begin to enter letters, predictive results will display.
    • Entering certain channel names will display channel collections – for example, “FOX” displays all available Fox branded channels.
  3. Do one of the following.
  • Tap a TV show, movie or sports team you searched for to view options, including Watch and Info.
  • Tap a channel you searched for to tune to that channel.

Schedule a remote DVR recording

Once a program is selected from the guide, select Record to schedule a recording on your home DVR.

Lock or unlock a title from the series or movie Info screen

Tap Lock or Unlock.

  • Lock option displays when Parental Controls are turned on and a PIN exists.
  • Unlock option displays if content is locked by Parental Controls.
  • Lock and unlock require entry of the Parental Control PIN.

Parental Controls and Closed Captioning

Use the table below to adjust or change the settings functions.

Turn Closed Captions on or offWhile watching something, from the Control Bar, tap CC.

Result: CC will turn blue when Closed Captioning is turned on.
Turn Video Description on or offWhile watching something, from the Control Bar, tap the speech bubble icon.
Access the Settings MenuFrom the Main Menu, tap the Settings icon at the bottom right.
Turn SAP on or off and select SAP language
  1. From the Settings Menu, tap Accessibility.
  2. Tap SAP.
  3. Use the toggle switch to turn SAP on or off.

    Note: When SAP is turned ON, a Language Selector displays.

  4. Tap a language to select and continue.
Create Parental Control PIN

From the Settings menu, tap Parental Controls. Use the toggle switch to turn Parental Controls on.

  • If Parental Controls have not been set up, then you are asked to create and confirm a PIN.
  • If Parental Controls have been set up, the PIN is required for access to this menu.
Turn Safe Browse on or off, or change Safe Browse setting
  1. From the Parental Controls menu, tap Safe Browse.
  2. Use the toggle switch to turn the feature on or off.
    • When turned on, you can choose between High and Medium settings.
    • Impacted content will display Title, Description, and Episode Information as “hidden by Safe Browse.”
Lock or unlock TV Ratings
  1. From the Parental Controls menu, tap TV Rating Locks.
  2. Tap to select ratings you wish to restrict or modify.

    Note: Under TV-MA, you can also choose to block the specific ratings categories: L – Language, S – Sexual Content, and V – Violence.

  3. Enter PIN if prompted.

    Result: A filled lock icon indicates this option is selected.
Lock or unlock Movie Ratings
  1. From the Parental Controls menu, tap Movie Ratings.
  2. Tap to select ratings you wish to restrict or modify.
  3. Enter PIN if prompted.

    Result: A filled lock icon indicates this option is selected.
Lock or unlock a network or channel
  1. From the Parental Controls menu, tap Networks / Channels.

Note: You can choose to Lock All or Clear All.

  1. Scroll the list, then tap to select a channel you want to restrict or modify.
    • Quick Lock – locks all versions of the channel (SD / HD), and all associated On DEMAND content.
    • Channels – tap to lock linear channel viewing, or select settings for individual channels.
    • On DEMAND – tap to lock any On DEMAND content associated with the network.
  2. Enter PIN if prompted.

    Result: A filled lock icon indicates this option is selected.
Reset all restrictions
  1. From the Parental Controls menu, tap Reset All Restrictions.
  2. Enter your PIN.
View license and privacy informationFrom the Settings menu, tap Terms and Policies.
Change household account

From the Settings menu, tap Change Household Account.

Note: This option erases all user data, including Parental Control settings, and returns the app to "First Time User" mode.
