Setting Up WiFi With the Netgear CG3000D or CG4500BD

Solution

Use the steps below to access the Netgear admin portal to set up or change WiFi network names and passwords for the following gateways.

  • Netgear CG3000D
  • Netgear CG400BD

To access the Netgear admin portal in a web browser, go to 192.168.0.1.

Note: On some mobile devices, the web browser may require you to enter the full URL of https://192.168.0.1.

Log in to the admin portal with the following steps.

  1. In the User Name field, enter admin.
  2. In the Password field, enter password.
  3. Click Apply.

From the left-hand Setup menu, click Wireless Settings and complete the following.

  1. Under Wireless Network, in the Name (SSID) field, enter a new name.
  2. In the Passphrase field, enter a new password.
  3. Click Apply.

Note: If the device used to change the network name and password is connected to the WiFi network, then within 60 seconds of updating the network and password, it loses internet connection and must be reconnected. Additionally, all other WiFi-ready devices in the home must be connected to the new network.

To set up additional wireless networks, repeat step 3 for that network.
