Setting Up WiFi With the Arris DG2460, TG2472, or TG1682

Solution

Use the steps below to access the Arris admin portal to set up or change WiFi network names and passwords for the following gateways.

  • Arris DG2460
  • Arris TG1682 with item number DAR1682
  • Arris TG2472

Note: For some gateways, you may be able to use My WiFi to manage your WiFi. See Managing Your In-Home Network With My WiFi for details.

Connect to the gateway through one of the following methods.

  • Look at the label on the bottom of the gateway, then use the default SSID and password to connect to the WiFi.
  • Use an Ethernet cable to connect one end to the back of the gateway, and the other end to a computer.

To access the Arris admin portal in a web browser, go to 192.168.0.1.

Note: On some mobile devices, the web browser may require you to enter the full URL of https://192.168.0.1.

Log in to the admin portal with the following steps.

  1. In the User Name field, enter admin.
  2. In the Password field, enter password.
  3. Click Apply.

From the Basic Setup tab, complete the following steps to set up the 2.4 and 5 GHz WiFi networks.

  1. Under the section for Wireless 2.4 GHz, enter the following.
    • In the Wireless Network Name (SSID) field, enter a new name.
    • In the Pre-Shared Key field, enter a new password.
  2. Under the section for Wireless 5 GHz, enter the following.
    • In the Wireless Network Name (SSID) field, enter a new name.
    • In the Pre-Shared Key field, enter a new password.
  3. Click Apply.

Note: If any devices are connected to the WiFi network, then within 60 seconds of updating the network name and password, they will lose the internet connection and must be reconnected. Additionally, all other WiFi-ready devices in the home must be connected to the new network.

To set up a guest WiFi network for the 2.4 GHz band, complete the following steps.

  1. Click on the Wireless 2.4 GHz tab.
  2. On the left side, click 2.4GHZ GUEST SSID.
  3. Place a check in the box next to Enable Wireless.
  4. In the Wireless Network Name (SSID) field, enter a new name.
  5. In the Pre-Shared Key field, enter a new password.
  6. Click Apply.

To set up a guest WiFi network for the 5 GHz band, complete the following steps.

  1. Click on the Wireless 5 GHz tab.
  2. On the left side, click 5GHZ GUEST SSID.
  3. Place a check in the box next to Enable Wireless.
  4. In the Wireless Network Name (SSID) field, enter a new name.
  5. In the Pre-Shared Key field, enter a new password.
  6. Click Apply.
