Setting Up Nomorobo

Solution

To activate Nomorobo, you must subscribe to Cox Voice phone service. If you do not have a Cox Voice phone account, then you are unable to activate Nomorobo. Cox will notify you when the service is available for your account.

Use the following steps to activate and enable your Nomorobo phone number for robocall blocking.

Note: To complete the set-up process, you will need internet access to go to Voice Tools on Cox.com and the Nomorobo website. Additionally, Nomorobo requires that you enter a valid email address as part of the set-up process.

Are you a Cox Voice subscriber?

  • If yes, then Cox Voice displays on your billing statement. Continue to the next step.
  • If no, then Cox Digital Telephone displays on your billing statement. Currently, your phone service does not support Nomorobo. All steps complete.

Complete the following steps.

  1. Go to phonetools.cox.net.
  2. Sign in with your primary User ID and Password.

If you do not have sign in information, click No Account? Register Now! and follow the prompts.

Click Settings to expand the drop-down menu options.

Complete the steps below.

  1. Locate Simultaneous Ring, then toggle the button to On.
  2. Click Sign Up for NoMoRobo.

    Result: You will be directed to the Nomorobo sign up page on https://www.nomorobo.com/signup.

From the Nomorobo website, complete the steps below.

  1. From the What do you want to protect? page, click Internet Landline.
  2. In the Enter Your Phone Number field, enter you phone number.
  3. Click Check Availability.
  4. If you are asked to Choose your internet landline provider, click COX.
  5. Enter your email address, then click Start Blocking Robocalls NOW!.

    Result: You will receive an email from Nomorobo with an activation link.

From your email, click the activation link and complete the required steps to activate your Nomorobo phone number.

  • Once the Nomorobo process is complete, then continue to the next step.
  • Nomorobo will  provide you with a telephone number that you will add to the Simultaneous Ring settings.
  • If there are problems while entering information on the Nomorobo website, then contact the Nomorobo Helpdesk at https://nomorobo.zendesk.com/hc/en-us.

    Note: Nomorobo is a third party service and is not supported by Cox.

From phonetools.cox.com, click Settings.

  1. Locate Simultaneous Ring.
  2. In the empty field, enter the phone number that was provided by Nomorobo.
  3. Click Add.
  4. Click Save.

    Simultaneous Ring is now active. Once the Simultaneous Ring process is complete, then continue the steps below.

From the Nomorobo website, complete the following steps to test your new number.

  1. Click Your Phones, then locate the number.
  2. Click the Test button, then click the I'm ready. Call me now. button.
  3. Answer the phone after the status bar changes color.
    • If Nomorobo is activated, then you received an automated verification call confirming that Nomorobo is enabled.
    • If Nomorobo is not activated, then you received an automated verification call confirming that robocall blocking is disabled on your line. Your phone is not protected by Nomorobo. Contact the Nomorobo Helpdesk for more information.

If you are still receiving robocalls after activation, then verify that your Nomorobo phone number is added to the Simultaneous Ring feature in Voice Tools. Contact Nomorobo directly for additional support.
