Resetting a Primary User Password on Cox.com

Solution

Use the following steps to reset the password for the primary User ID that is associated with your account.

To reset the password for a secondary user, refer to Managing Secondary Users in My Account for additional information.
 

Important: Changing or resetting a Cox user password may affect the ability to log in to a number of other applications. Before proceeding, refer to Applications Affected by Changing Cox Login User ID or Password to review a list of applications that may be affected by changing a Cox.com password.

Go to https://www.cox.com/myprofile/forgot-password.html.

  1. On the Enter User ID page, enter the Primary User ID that you created during your original Cox.com account registration in the User ID field.
  2. Click Next.

    Note: Pressing Enter will not progress you to the next page. You must click Next to continue.

On the Password Reset Options page, complete the following steps.

  1. Click on one of the following methods to receive a one-time passcode.
    • Email, Text, or Voice
    • Answer Secret Question: This option is only available when you are using a device connected to your home internet service.
  2. Enter the code and click Verify.

    Note: You have several attempts to enter a valid one-time passcode. If you exhaust those attempts, then you are prompted to Upload ID, see ID Scan. If your ID Scan is successful, then continue to the next step. If not, you are provided with remaining options on-screen.

Complete the following steps.

  1. Enter a new password in the New Password field and confirm the password.

    Notes:
    • Password guidelines display on the right of the New Password field.
    • A password strength meter shows the security of the new password you select.
  2. Click Save Changes.

    Result: Your password has been reset. You will receive a confirmation email or letter as a result of changing your account settings.
