Replacing Batteries in Smoke Detectors

Solution

Follow the steps below or watch the video to replace the batteries in the Homelife Smoke Detectors.
 

Important: After replacing the equipment battery, acknowledge any error on the touchscreeen and then reboot it. Refer to Rebooting the Homelife Touchscreen.

  1. Remove the smoke detector from the mounting base by turning the cover counterclockwise approximately 15 degrees.
  2. On the back of the sensor, slide the battery compartment cover away from the smoke detector to unsnap it and lift it off.
  3. Remove and dispose of the batteries appropriately as recommended by the battery manufacturer.
  4. Observe correct polarity and insert two new 3V lithium batteries into the battery compartment and replace the
    cover.
  5. Reattach the cover to the mounting base and test the system.

  1. Separate the detector from its bracket by rotating the detector counterclockwise and pull it from the bracket.
  2. Lift battery cover located on the back of the sensor.
  3. Remove the old batteries and dispose of them properly, as recommended by the battery manufacturer.
  4. Replace with the new battery.

    Note: When the battery first makes contact, the alarm horn may sound for one
    second. This indicates that the battery is connected properly.

  5. Connect the battery to its terminals and verify proper polarity.
  6. Replace the cover then press the test button to ensure proper installation.
