The Apple iOS 15 or higher and MacOS Monterey operating system update includes a new Internet privacy service called iCloud Private Relay. The Private Relay service may impact several of your Cox Panoramic Wifi App features.
Apple Private Relay is available as part of iCloud+ subscription as an opt-in feature. When you enable the Private Relay, Internet connections are set up through a Private Relay and use anonymous IP addresses that map to the region a user is in, without providing the user’s exact location or identity. This experience is similar to a virtual private network (VPN) and may affect the following devices.
- iOS 15 and higher
- iPad OS 15
- MacOS Monterey
If you have the Cox Panoramic Wifi app, including Advanced Security, Parental Controls, and Active Time Details, those features continue to work after your Apple devices have upgraded to iOS 15 and higher or macOS Monterey because iCloud Private Relay will not be turned on as part of the upgrade process. However, if you turn on iCloud Private Relay, the following Panoramic Wifi features may not work as expected.
Feature | Impact of Update |
---|---|
Device Connectivity | Limited information such as host name and brand |
Advanced Security | Unable to see traffic and ensure protected browsing and IP reputation blocking |
Parental Controls | Unable to see and block access to age-inappropriate content |
Active Time Details | Unable to identify specific apps but can view time spent on apps |
Internet Health Check | Only basic Internet Health connection results are displayed, won't provide specific details |
As always, Cox is committed to your privacy and we do not sell your location data or any information that identifies who you are to anyone. If you would like to continue using Panoramic Wifi functionality as expected within the app, follow the steps outlined in the table below to disable the Apple Private Relay.
