After the modem is successfully registered on the network, the Power, Downstream, Upstream, and Online indicators continuously indicate that the modem is online and fully operational.

The Netgear CM3000 has the following ports and buttons on the back of the modem.

  • Reset - Restores the default factory settings by pressing the Reset button for at least seven seconds, the Power LED will blink white, and the modem will return to its factory settings. This button is recessed to prevent accidental resets of your modem.
  • Multi-Gig LAN - Connect computer for installing and activating Internet service. After installation, disconnect the computer and connect a router to the Ethernet port.
  • Aggregate 1 and 2 - Use two Ethernet cables to connect these ports to a device that supports Ethernet aggregation.
  • Cable - Connect a coaxial cable line using this port.
  • DC - Connect the power adapter using this port.
     

MAC Address

MAC addresses are written as 12 digits containing both letters and numbers 0-9, A-F. A MAC address is unique. The first six characters of the MAC address are unique to the device's manufacturer.

Troubleshooting

The lights indicate the current status of the modem. To troubleshoot any connection problems, use the table below.
 

LED Light Status Description
Power Off No power. Verify all cable connections and reset the modem.
Solid White The modem is receiving power and functioning normally.
Solid Red The modem is too warm and may overheat. Disconnect the power adapter and let the modem cool down for a few minutes. Once the modem has cooled, ensure it is placed vertically and in a location with good ventilation before reconnecting the adapter.
Downstream Off The downstream channel is inactive. Verify all cable connections and reset the modem.
Solid Amber A connection from the computer to the internet is established on one channel.
Blinking White The modem is scanning for downstream channels. Verify all cable connections and try resetting the modem if the LED indicator continues to blink.
Solid White A connection from the computer to the internet is established on two or more channels.
Upstream Off The upstream channel is inactive. Verify all cable connections and reset the modem.
Solid Amber A connection from the internet to the computer is established on one channel.
Blinking White The modem is scanning for an upstream channel. Verify all cable connections and try resetting the modem if the LED indicator continues to blink.
Solid White A connection from the internet to the computer is established on two or more channels.
Online Off The modem is offline. Verify all cable connections and reset the modem.
Solid White The modem is online and operational.
Blinking White The modem is synchronizing. Verify all cable connections and try resetting the modem if the LED indicator continues to blink.
Multi Gig Solid Blue A 2.5 Gbps device is powered on and connected to the port.
Blinking Blue The port is sending or receiving traffic at 2.5 Gbps.
Solid White A 1 Gbps device is powered on and connected to the port.
Blinking White The port is sending or receiving traffic at 1 Gbps.
Solid Amber A 100 Mbps device is powered on and connected to the port.
Blinking Amber The port is sending or receiving traffic at 100 Mbps.
Eth 1 and
Eth 2
Off A device is not connected to this port.
Solid White A 1 Gbps device is powered on and connected to the port.
Solid Amber A 10 Mbps or 100 Mbps device is powered on and connected to the port.
Blinking White or Amber The port is sending or receiving traffic.
