The Netgear CBR40 includes the following connection ports:

  • POWER - Connects the modem to the power adapter
  • RESET - Restores factory settings
  • ETHERNET - Provides internet access to a single device. Only one port is active at a time.
  • CABLE - Connects to coaxial cable

Troubleshooting

The lights indicate the current status of your cable modem. To troubleshoot any connection problems, use the table below.

Solid WhiteNone. The modem is receiving power and is functioning normally.
OffThe modem is not receiving power. Verify power supply connections and electrical outlet. Ensure the outlet is not connected to a switch.
Solid RedThe modem is too warm and could overheat. Power off the modem, let it cool, and move it away from heat sources, such as a TV, DVD player, or speakers.
Internet

Internet light
Solid BlueNone; the cable modem router is online.
Blinking BlueThe modem is synchronizing with the cable provider's Cable Modem Termination System (CMTS).
OffCable modem is offline. Verify all cable connections and try resetting the modem.
Upstream

Upstream light
Solid AmberOne upstream channel is locked.
Solid BlueTwo or more upstream channels are locked.
Blinking BlueThe modem is scanning for an upstream channel.
OffNo upstream channel is locked.
Downstream

downstream light
Solid AmberOne downstream channel is locked.
Solid BlueTwo or more downstream channels are locked.
Blinking BlueThe modem is scanning for a downstream channel.
