After the cable modem successfully registers on the network, the Power, Upstream, Downstream, and Internet indicators illuminate continuously to indicate that the modem is online and fully operational. For more details, refer to the Modem Lights section.

The Netgear C6900 has the following ports available on the back of the modem.

  • Ethernet LAN Ports - Provides internet access to a single device. Only one port is active at a time.
  • Coaxial Cable Connector (Cable / Internet - Connect your coaxial cable line to this port.)
  • Reset Button - Use this button in the unlikely event that you want to restore the default factory settings. This button is recessed to prevent accidental resets of your modem.
  • Power Adapter Input - Connect the supplied power cord to this port.

MAC addresses are written as 12 digits containing both letters and numbers (0-9, A-F). A MAC address is unique. The first six characters of the MAC address are unique to the manufacturer of the device.

Troubleshooting

The modem lights indicate the current status of your cable modem. To troubleshoot any connection problems, use the table below.

  • Disconnect the power adapter.
  • Wait a couple of minutes to let the cable modem cool down.

  • Make sure that the cable modem is placed in a location with good ventilation.
  • Reconnect the power adapter.
Downstream

Blinking AmberScanning for downstream channel. Verify all cable connections and try resetting the modem.

WPS

OffWPS button has not been activated.  
Blinking GreenNone. This button enables you to use WPS to join the WiFi network without typing the WiFi password. The WPS LED blinks during the process and then lights solid.
Solid GreenNone. WPS LED blinks to solid after button has been pushed.
