After the cable modem is successfully registered on the network, the light on the front of the device will pulse continuously and then remain solid for at least one minute to indicate that the cable modem is online and fully operational.

Note: This process may take up to 15 minutes, and the modem may reboot multiple times.

The Motorola B12 has the following ports and buttons available on the back of the modem.

  • ETHERNET (2.5Gbps) - Connects WiFi router or wired device
  • COAX - Connects to a coaxial cable
  • POWER - Connects to the power adapter
Note: The Reset Button is located on the bottom of the device. Using a paper clip or similar object, press and hold for 10 seconds to reset the modem to factory defaults

MAC addresses are written as 12 digits containing both letters and numbers (0-9, A-F). A MAC address is unique. The first six characters of the MAC address are unique to the device's manufacturer.

Troubleshooting

The modem light indicates the current status of your cable modem. To troubleshoot any connection problems, use the table below.
 

Modem Light Description
Slow blinking teal The modem is connected to the power
Slow pulsing teal Scanning for downstream channel
Slow pulsing white Scanning for upstream channel
Rapid pulsing white Registering with Internet service
Solid white Online with DOCSIS 3.1 or DOCSIS 3.0
Fast blinking white Updating firmware
Fast blinking teal Factory reset or restoring configuration
