Modifying a Secondary User in My Account

Solution

Secondary users can modify their passwords and other account information in the My Account section on Cox.com by using the steps below.
  • To create a new secondary user in My Account, see Adding a Secondary User.
  • My Account secondary users are used for online access only. Customers who contact Cox by phone to discuss account issues cannot use their Cox Digital Identity as a form of identification.
  • Not all users created in My Account can perform the same functions by default. Refer to Understanding Digital Identities and Account Types for more information.

  1. From the Cox.com home page, click Sign In My Account.
  2. Enter your secondary User ID and Password, then click Sign In.

Click View My Profile.

You can edit any of the following.

Option Steps
Name or Nickname
  1. In the Profile section click Edit Preferences.
  2. Enter the new name for the identity.
  3. Add a nickname for this identity.

    Note: This step is optional.

  4. Click the Save Changes button.

    Result: A confirmation window displays the changes and a confirmation email or letter is sent.
Password
  1. In the Security section click Edit Preferences.
  2. Enter the current password.
  3. Enter and reenter a new password.
  4. Click the Save Changes button.

    Result: A confirmation window displays the changes and a confirmation email or letter is sent.
Recovery Email
  1. In the Security section click Edit Preferences.
  2. Update the Recovery Email.
  3. Click the Save Changes button.

    Result: A confirmation window displays the changes and a confirmation email or letter is sent.
Security Questions and Answer
  1. In the Security section click Edit Preferences.
  2. Use the drop-down to select your Security Question.
  3. Enter your Security Answer.
  4. Click the Save Changes button.

    Result: A confirmation window displays the changes and a confirmation email or letter is sent.
