Turn On Fulfilled to Secure Private Documents

You must be the administrator on this computer with a user name and password to access FileVault. Some highly-partitioned disk configurations such as RAID do not work with FileVault.

2

Click Security & Privacy.

3
  1. Click FileVault.
  2. Click the gold lock icon at the lower left of the dialog box, then enter your administrator user name and password.

Click Turn on FileVault.

If the computer has multiple accounts, then a list of accounts displays. Visit Apple.com/support/mac for more information on managing user accounts.

Result: Once on the FileVault page, your recovery key displays. This key is a set of letters or numbers.

5

Copy the recovery key and store it in a safe place.

Note: If the recovery key is hidden, click Show Recovery Key. You may want to choose additional options to store your recovery key.

6

Click Continue, and then click Restart to activate your security settings.

It may take some time for the security changes to configure if there is a large amount of data stored on your hard drive.
