Installing a Battery Backup for a Panoramic Wifi Gateway or DOCSIS 3.1 Internet and Telephone Modem

Solution

This battery is only intended to back up phone service in the event of a power outage. It is not intended to back up Internet service. If you have a home alarm system or home health monitoring system that relies on the telephone line to operate, you will lose access to those services during a power outage unless you have backup batteries in each piece of Cox phone equipment.

Use the following steps to install your battery backup for the following.

1

Unplug the power cord from the electrical outlet, and then unplug the power cord from the back of your gateway or modem.

Note: Your service is briefly interrupted.

2

Plug your gateway or modem power cord into the back of the battery backup, and then plug the other end into the electrical outlet.

4

  • The Technicolor CGM4141 is fully charged after it charges for about 20 minutes. The battery backup makes a beeping sound and the LED light turns solid blue when it's ready for use.
  • The Technicolor CGM4981 battery backup LED light remains a steady blue when it's ready for use.
  • The Arris TM3402 and Arris TM9202 battery LED is green when it's ready for use.
