Installing a Battery Backup for a DOCSIS 3.1 Internet and Telephone Modem

Solution

Technicolor CGM4141 Panoramic WiFi Modems that are operating on a battery backup will not automatically recognize when AC power has been restored. The modem must be manually restarted to operate on AC power after a power outage.

Use the following steps to install your battery backup for your DOCSIS 3.1 Panoramic WiFi Modem, the Technicolor CGM4141, and the Arris TM3402.

Note: To see how to install a battery for other modems, see Installing Telephone Modem Battery.

1

Unplug the power cord from the electrical outlet, and then unplug the power cord from the back of your modem.

Note: Your service is briefly interrupted.

2

Plug your modem power cord into the back of the battery backup, and then plug the other end into the electrical outlet.

Result: For the Technicolor CGM4141, the battery backup LED blinks green.

4

Wait for the battery backup to be fully charged.

  • The Technicolor CGM4141 is fully charged after it charges for about 20 minutes. The battery backup makes a beeping sound and the LED light turns solid blue when it's ready for use.
  • The Arris TM3402 battery LED is green when it's ready for use.
