Finding Your IP Address

Solution

Use these steps to find the IP address on the following mobile devices or computers.

Note: Cox does not support all devices and computer operating systems. The following information is for reference only. For specific information about your device, refer to the user's guide or manufacturer's support website.
 

Mobile Devices

ModelSteps
Android Phone / Tablet 
  1. From your Home Screen, select Settings.
  2. Select Connections.
  3. Tap WiFi and then tap on the network you are currently connected to.

    Result: A pop-up window displays showing network status, speed, signal strength, security type, and IP address.
iPad 
  1. From the Home Screen, tap the Settings icon.
  2. Select General from the Settings menu.
  3. Choose the Network option from the General sub-menu.
  4. Select the network you are currently connected to from the list in the WiFi Networks sub-menu.
     
    Result
    : The iPad's connection and router information displays. The first item listed is your IP address.
iPhone / iPod Touch 
  1. From the Home Screen, tap the Settings icon on the Springboard.
  2. Tap the WiFi option in the Settings menu.

    Note: You must be connected to the Internet to have an IP address. If you are not connected to the Internet, tap one of the available networks under Choose a Network, and connect to it.
     
  3. Tap the blue arrow icon next to the name of the network you are connected to.

    Result
    : Your IP address is the first item in the list that displays.
Kindle Device 
  1. From the Home Screen, press the Menu button.
  2. Go to the Settings menu.
  3. Use the Kindle's 5-way controller to underline Setting, then press.
     
    Result
    : Multiple pages of personalization settings display allowing you to customize your Kindle experience.
     
  4. Look for, then choose, Device Info to get your Kindle's WiFi MAC address.
Windows Phone 
  1. Go to Start.
  2. Choose Settings.
  3. Select Network Cards.
     
    Result: A list of available network adapters displays.
     
  4. Select the adapter you need to find the IP address for.
     
    Note: In most cases, you will want to choose the Wireless Adapter option.
     
  5. Edit your selection.
     
    Result: Your IP address displays.

Operating Systems

OSSteps
macOS 
  1. Click the small Apple icon in the top-left corner of your desktop.
  2. Scroll down and click on System Preferences.
  3. Click the Network icon.
  4. View your IP address by clicking on any of the network ports.
     
    Result
    : Your IP address displays beneath the Status header in the selected network port information.
Windows 10 

If the device is connected to the Internet using an Ethernet connection, complete the following.

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Select Network & Internet.
  3. Select Ethernet.
  4. Scroll down to the Properties section and you will see the IPV4 address information for your device.

If the device is connected to the Internet using WiFi, complete the following.

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Select Network & Internet.
  3. Select WiFi.
  4. Select Advanced options.
  5. Scroll down to the Properties section and you will see the IPV4 address information for your device.
