Enabling Bridge Mode on the Panoramic Wifi Gateway

Solution

Typically, two pieces of equipment are required to connect to a WiFi network in your home.

  • A cable modem connects your home to an internet service provider's network.
  • A third-party wireless router connects to the modem with an Ethernet cable, and then broadcasts WiFi to your devices.

The Panoramic Wifi Gateway puts the technology of a modem and router into one device to create your in-home WiFi network. However, we understand that there may be times when you would prefer to use your own router. To do this while using the Panoramic Wifi Gateway, enable Bridge Mode, which turns off the gateway's router capability but leaves the internet connection on.

  • When Bridge Mode is enabled, you're not able to use Panoramic Wifi and Pods.
  • If you've already activated your Panoramic Pods, you're not able to enable Bridge Mode.
  • Enabling Bridge Mode doesn't disable the Panoramic WiFi Home Hotspot feature.
  • Bridge Mode is not compatible with MoCA services such as IPTV or Cox Homelife.
  • Bridge Mode is not compatible when fiber is delivering services to your home. To identify if you use fiber, then your home has an ONT installed.

Follow the steps below to enable Bridge Mode.

Note: Before enabling bridge mode, ensure that the SSID is not set as the default.

1

Open a web browser, and go to the Admin Tool at 192.168.0.1.

Note: If disabling Bridge Mode, your device must be connected to your gateway with an Ethernet cable.

2

Enter the following information.

  • Username field: enter admin
  • Password field: enter password

Note: If you previously changed your Admin Tool password, use the new password to log in.

3

From the left-hand column, select Gateway, then select At a Glance.

4

Next to Bridge Mode, click Enable.

Result: The following message displays. WARNING: Enabling Bridge Mode will disable Router functionality of Gateway and turn off the private Wi-Fi network. Are you sure you want to continue?

5

Click OK.

Result: Your gateway restarts. You can now use your router in place of the gateway's router capabilities.

6

In the top right corner, click Logout.

7

Connect your personal router to any of the Ethernet ports on the Panoramic Wifi Gateway.

Note: You can use your gateway's router capabilities in the future by logging in to the Admin Tool and selecting Gateway, then selecting At a Glance to set the Bridge Mode field to Disable.
