Disabling Call Waiting

Details

Use these steps to disable call waiting with your telephone.

Note: You are also able to manage call waiting features from Voice Tools. See Disabling Call Waiting for Cox Voice Customers and About Voice Tools for more information.

  1. Lift the handset and listen for the dial tone.
  2. Select from the following based on your locations.
    • If you are located in the following markets use *380.
      • Baton Rouge
      • Macon
      • Gainesville
      • Pensacola
      • Roanoke
    • All other markets use *38.
  3. Listen for three confirmation tones.

    Result: Call Waiting is now disabled. Your calls will not be interrupted by the Call Waiting tone. New callers will hear a busy signal until you turn on Call Waiting. If your Internet and Telephone Modem is rebooted, then call waiting will be enabled again.

Temporarily Disabling Call Waiting

Call Waiting is temporarily disabled for this telephone call only.

  1. Lift the handset and listen for the dial tone.
  2. Press *70.
  3. Listen for the confirmation tone.
  4. Dial the telephone number you wish to call.

    Result: Your call will not be interrupted by the Call Waiting tone. Other callers will hear a busy signal.
     
  5. After you hang up, Call Waiting automatically turns on again.
