Cox Text Messages and Alerts Help

Get help the following topics for using Cox Text Messages and Alerts.

Receiving text messages and alerts is a free feature from Cox, but standard text messaging and data rates do apply. Check with your mobile carrier to confirm your text messaging rates.

Text Commands

The following commands can be sent to COXTXT (269898).

Command Function
HELP Send HELP to receive a link to the Text Messages and Alerts Help Page on Cox.com.
OK Send OK to confirm an appointment or an order.
Y Send Y as a response to the verification text message you receive after you opt in to receive text messages and alerts from Cox.
CXL

Send CXL if you wish to cancel an appointment or an order.

Note: You cannot cancel an Install Order via text message.

STOP Send STOP if you wish to stop receiving text messages from Cox.
CANCEL Send CANCEL if you wish to stop receiving text messages from Cox.
END Send END if you wish to stop receiving text messages from Cox.
UNSUBSCRIBE Send UNSUBSCRIBE if you wish to stop receiving text messages from Cox.
QUIT Send QUIT if you wish to stop receiving text messages from Cox.

Opting In for Text Messages and Alerts

You can opt in to receive text messages and alerts from Cox by visiting My Profile within your My Account page. Customize the types of alerts you receive via text message from within My Profile. If you need assistance with text alerts, you can contact us.

Once you opt in to receive text messages, you receive a verification text to the mobile number you provided. In order to complete the opt-in process, simply respond to the message with Y. You’ll receive a final text verifying that you have successfully been opted in for text messages and alerts from Cox.

Opting Out for Text Messages and Alerts

If you would like to opt out of receiving text messages and alerts, text any of the following commands to COXTXT (269898):

  • STOP
  • CANCEL
  • END
  • UNSUBSCRIBE
  • QUIT

Note: If you opt out of receiving text messages and alerts, all text message settings that you customized in My Account will be deleted. If you choose to opt in again in the future, you will need to reset your text message preferences within My Account.

Receiving Help With Text Messages and Alerts

To receive help regarding text messages and alerts, text the word HELP to COXTXT (269898). You will receive a link to the help page.

Canceling Appointments

If you need to cancel an appointment, simply text CXL to COXTXT (269898). This will cancel your appointment, and you will receive a text message response from Cox verifying that your appointment has been canceled.

Note: An installation appointment cannot be cancelled via text. You can reschedule appointments online or by contacting Customer Support for assistance.

Order Confirmation

After you place an order with a Cox Care Agent or online at Cox.com, you will receive an order confirmation via text message. To confirm your order, reply with OK.

Error Messages

The table below shows possible error messages you may receive when using Cox Text Messages and Alerts.

Message Description
Verification Failed. There was an error processing your verification request. Visit http://www.cox.com/texthelp to learn how to re-verify your account.

An error occurred while we attempted to verify your phone number. If you’ve received this message, try again or contact Customer Support.

Invalid Command: Please text HELP for more information or STOP to unsubscribe from Text Alerts. An invalid message was sent to COXTXT. See Text Commands above for a list of valid text commands.
