Correcting Mobile Data Usage Cycle Differences

Solution

If the data usage on your device is different from the usage showing with Cox, it could be due to one the following reasons:

  • The data usage showing on the Cox App and Cox.com can be up to 6 hours behind the actual usage.

    Note: The messages you receive may be more up-to-date than what shows on your Cox account.

  • Samsung calculates data usage differently than Cox.
    • Samsung: 1GB = 1,000MB
    • Cox Mobile: 1GB = 1,024MB
  • The data usage cycle on the device may not align with the data usage cycle on your account.

To look up your usage cycle using Cox.com or the Cox App use the following table.

If using… Then…
Cox.com
  1. From the Cox.com homepage, click Sign In My Account. Enter your primary User ID and Password.

    Note: If you do not remember your User ID or Password, or experience an issue signing in, see Recover Your Cox User ID or Reset Your Cox Password.
  2. Under Manage Your Services & Equipment, click on the Mobile icon.
  3. Find the mobile number and click Manage Line.
  4. Click the View Usage Details button.
  5. Click View Usage Cycle.

    Example: December 7th - January 6th.
Cox app
  1. Launch the Cox app and sign in with your primary User ID and Password.
  2. Scroll to the bottom of the home page, tap the mobile number.
  3. Tap View Usage Cycle.

    Example: Dec 7 - Jan 6. 19 days left in cycle.

Changing Your Data Usage Cycle Date on an Android Device

Complete the following steps to change your data usage cycle date on an Android Device.

Note: iOS does not allow you to change your data usage cycle date.

Open Settings and tap Connections.

Complete the following steps:

  • Tap Date.
  • From the drop-down menu, select the cycle date.
  • Tap Set.

Viewing Data Usage on an iOS Device

Complete the following steps to view and reset your data usage cycle date on an iOS device.

Open your iPhone Settings.

Tap Cellular

Result: Under CELLULAR DATA, Current Period displays. The number to the right of Current Period is how much data has been used. Below each app, a number displays, indicating how much data you've used for each app.

Scroll to the bottom of the screen, under the CALL TIME section, to view the days and hours for your current period.

Note: Under Reset Statistics, Last Reset displays the date your current data usage begins.

Optional

To help manage your cellular data usage, you can choose which apps use cellular data. To turn off cellular data, next to the appropriate app, toggle the green button off to turn off cellular data. Apps can still be used on WiFi.

Resetting Data Usage on an iOS Device

Under CELLULAR USAGE STATISTICS, tap Reset Statistics to reset the current period of data usage.

Tap Reset Statistics again.
