Modem Information

DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem

4x4 channel bonding with speeds of up to 50 Mbps

Not compatible with future speed increases.

What does this mean?DOCSIS 3.0 modems with 4x4 channel bonding have a maximum speed of 50 Mbps on the Cox network. Cox recommends a DOCSIS 3.0 16x4 or higher device for optimal Internet performance.

After the cable modem successfully registers on the network, the POWER, DS, US and ONLINE indicators illuminate continuously to indicate that the cable modem is online and fully operational.

The Cisco DPC3000 includes the following connection ports:

  • REBOOT - Used to reset the modem
  • ETHERNET - Connects to the Ethernet port on your computer
  • USB - Connects to the USB port on your computer
  • CABLE - Connects to the cable wall outlet
  • POWER - Connects the cable modem to the power adapter

    Note: The REBOOT button is for maintenance purposes only.
     

MAC Address

The MAC address is usually found on a sticker located on the bottom of the modem.

MAC addresses are written as 12 digits containing both letters and numbers (0-9, A-F). A MAC address is unique. The first six characters of the MAC address are unique to the manufacturer of the device.

Troubleshooting

The lights indicate the current status of your cable modem. To troubleshoot any connection problems, use the table below.

Modem Light Status Problem
POWER Solid Green None.
Off No power. Verify power supply connections and electrical outlet. Also make sure the outlet is not connected to a switch.
DS (Downstream) Solid Green None.
Blinking Green Searching for cable connection - Verify all cable connections and try resetting the modem.
US (Upstream) Solid Green None.
Blinking Green Modem registering with headend - looking for upstream - Verify all cable connections and try resetting the modem.
Off Modem offline. Verify all cable connections and try resetting the modem.
ONLINE Solid Green None.
Off No connection. Verify all cable connections and try resetting the modem.
LINK Solid Green Single device connected to either the Ethernet or USB port and no data is being sent to or from the modem
Blinking Green Single device connected to either the Ethernet or USB port and data is being transferred between the computer and the cable modem
Off No devices connected. Verify all cable connections and try resetting the modem.
