Changing Your Security Question and Answer on Cox.com


Your Cox Security Question and Answer helps identify you if you forget your password. Follow the steps below to change your question and answer.


Sign in at Cox.com with the following steps.

  1. In a web browser, go to www.cox.com.
  2. Click Sign In My Account at the top of the homepage.
  3. Enter your primary User ID and Password, then click Sign In.

    Note: You must log in as the primary user to modify your security question and answer.

Click View Profile.

Under My Profile, click Password & Security.

In the Security section, click Edit.

Update your question and answer with the following steps.

  1. In the Security Question drop-down menu, select your new question.
  2. In the Security Answer field, enter the new answer.

    • To view your answer, click Show.
    • When updating your answer, refer to the following guidelines.
      • Is not case sensitive
      • Should contain between 3-20 characters
      • Can consist of letters, numbers and spaces
      • Should not start or end with a space, or contain more than one space in the first three characters
      • Should not contain any special characters
  3. Click Save Changes.

    Result: A confirmation message You've successfully updated your Security preferences displays.
