Changing Your Email Server Settings for Windows Mail

Solution

Use the following steps to update Windows Mail to secure port settings for sending and receiving your Cox Email.

To launch Mail, click on the Windows icon windows icon, then click on the Mail app mail app icon.

From the Inbox window, hover over the right side of the screen, then click Settings settings icon.

From the Settings window, click Accounts.

From the Accounts window, click your Cox Email account.

Complete the following updates to the incoming server settings.

  • Verify that the Incoming email server field does not contain east, west, or central.
  • Place a check in the Server requires SSL box.
  • In the Port field, update one of the following port numbers based on if you use POP or IMAP.
    • For IMAP, delete 143 and then enter 993.
    • For POP, delete 110 and then enter 995.

Complete the following updates to the outgoing server settings.

  • Verify that the Outgoing email server field does not contain east, west, or central.
  • Place a check in the Server requires SSL box.
  • In the Outoing email server field, delete 25 and then enter 465.

Click on the Servers tab, then place a check in the My server requires authentication box.
