Changing Your Email Server Settings for Mail on iOS

Solution

Use the following steps to update Mail on iOS to secure port settings for sending and receiving your Cox Email.

Go to the Settings app on your device.

Refer to the following table for the next step based on your device's operating system version.

To validate all other settings, refer to Cox Email Server Settings. Ensure that your mail server name fields do not contain east west, or central.


If... Then...
Your device uses iOS 10 Scroll down, then tap Mail.

  1. Scroll down, then tap Accounts & Passwords.

  2. Continue to Step 4.

Tap Accounts.

Find your Cox Email account, then tap on it.

Tap on the Account field.

Tap Advanced.

Under the INCOMING MAIL SERVER section, complete the following.

  1. Ensure Use SSL is enabled.
  2. In the Server Port field, update one of the following port numbers based on if you use POP or IMAP.
    • For IMAP, delete 143 and then enter 993.
    • For POP, delete 110 and then enter 995.
  3. Tap Account.

Under the OUTGOING MAIL SERVER section, tap SMTP.

Under PRIMARY SERVER, tap smtp.cox.net.

Under the OUTGOING MAIL SERVER section, complete the following.

  1. Ensure Use SSL is enabled.
  2. In the Server Port field, delete 25 and then enter 465.

    Note: If sending errors occur with 465, enter 587 instead.
     
  3. Tap Done.

Tap Account.
