Changing Email Server Settings for Microsoft Outlook 2019 and Office 365

Solution

Use the following steps to update Microsoft Outlook 2019 and Office 365 to secure port settings for sending your Cox Email.

To launch Outlook, click Start or the Windows icon , then click Microsoft Outlook.

Access the Account Settings window using the steps below.

  1. Click File.
  2. From the Info tab, click Account Settings.
  3. Click Account Settings again.

From the Account Settings window, select your Cox Email account, then click Repair.

From the pop-up window, complete the following steps.

  1. Click Advanced options.
  2. Place a check in the Let me repair my account manually box.
  3. Click Repair.

From the Account Settings window, click Outgoing mail.

Update the following outgoing mail settings.

  • In the Server field, enter smtp.cox.net.
  • In the Port field, enter 465.
  • In the drop-down menu by Encryption method, select SSL/TLS.
  • Place a check in the My outgoing (SMTP) server requires authentication box.
  • Click the radio button next to Use the same settings as my incoming mail server.

Click Next.

Click Done.

From the Account Settings window, click Close.

Notes:

  • If Cox Email will not send after updating the outgoing server settings, then reset your password at www.cox.com/password and update the password in your email client and all related applications.
  • Cox recommends using the latest software version of third-party email clients. If your email client is an older version, we recommend you update the software to the latest version to ensure the most secure experience. If you need assistance updating your email client, then contact the manufacturer.
  • To validate all other settings, refer to Email Server Settings.
