Changing Email Server Settings for iOS

Solution

Use the following steps to update Mail on iOS to secure port settings for sending your Cox Email.

Go to the Settings app image of the settings icon on your device.

Tap Passwords & Accounts.

Tap your Cox Email account.

Tap on the Account field.

Under the OUTGOING MAIL SERVER section, tap SMTP.

Under the PRIMARY SERVER section, tap smtp.cox.net.

Under the OUTGOING MAIL SERVER section, update the following outgoing mail settings.

  1. In the Host Name field, enter smtp.cox.net.
  2. In the User Name field, enter the first part of your Cox Email address, excluding @cox.net.
  3. In the Password field, enter your Cox Email password.
  4. In the Use SSL field, enable SSL by sliding the button so it is green.
  5. In the Authentication field, select Password.
  6. In the Server Port field, enter 465.
  7. Tap Done.

Tap Account.

Notes:

  • If Cox Email will not send after updating the outgoing server settings, then reset your password at www.cox.com/password and update the password in your email client and all related applications.
  • Cox recommends using the latest software version of third-party email clients. If your email client is an older version, we recommend you update the software to the latest version to ensure the most secure experience. If you need assistance updating your email client, then contact the manufacturer.
  • To validate all other settings, refer to Email Server Settings.
