If you do not know what email client you are using to access Cox Email, then right click on the program you use to access your email and select properties. A pop-up window will tell you the name and version of the program.
Here are a few generic steps to help you update your devices to use secure outgoing port settings.
- Identify all devices that you and others in your household use to access Cox Email.
- For each device, open the email client that is used for your Cox Email.
- Go to Settings to view your current outgoing server setting, then update the following.
- Enable authentication, then enter your Cox Email address and password.
- Enter one of the following port numbers based on encryption type.
- If the encryption type is SSL or SSL/TLS, then in the port number field, enter 465.
- If the encryption type is TLS or if your device doesn't support encryption, then in the port number field, enter 587.
Notes:
- If Cox Email will not send after updating the outgoing server settings, then reset your password at www.cox.com/password and update the password in your email client and all related applications.
